Mike Carter is an inspirational writer and workshop leader. He is passionate about equipping children with the skills they need to start writing. He has appeared on television and radio and has written over 25 plays which have been staged in countries across Europe, Australia, USA, Alaska and Canada.
Mike’s musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's 'Fantastic Mr. Fox' premiered at The Gardner Arts Centre in Brighton in 1987 and broke all previous box office records for the venue. His adaptation, which also featured in the BBC’s highly acclaimed ‘Listen’ series, was the only musical version of the children's novel allowed on stage or radio by the Dahl Estate for many years. Mike also collaborated with Raymond Briggs, adapting his best-selling comic book, ‘Fungus the Bogeyman', which played at the Leicester Haymarket and Coventry Belgrade under the Direction of the late Ken Campbell. Mike’s debut feature film (‘Connected’), was signed by High Point Media in 2011 and has been screened in the UK, Argentina, New Zealand and Europe. His second feature (‘Brothers of War’) has enjoyed considerable global success with distributors Koch (UK) and Epic Pictures (US and International). It has been screened in USA, Canada, Germany, The Middle East, New Zealand, Poland and Turkey. Mike has produced over 80 short films! He is currently ‘Writer in Residence’ at Hurstpierpoint College.
